Visit Follows India-Pakistan Ceasefire After Border Tensions
This diplomatic visit comes just weeks after India and Pakistan were involved in intense border clashes, which ended in a ceasefire. The conflict was triggered by a terror attack in Kashmir on April 22, where 26 tourists were killed.
India blamed Pakistan for orchestrating the attack, calling it an act of cross-border terrorism, while Islamabad has denied any involvement.
Trump Claims Role in Brokering Ceasefire Using Trade Pressure
President Trump claimed that he used trade negotiations as leverage to help de-escalate tensions between India and Pakistan. While Pakistan has welcomed Trump’s role, India has firmly denied that any external party helped broker the ceasefire.
