China’s First Export of Broiler Eggs to Pakistan
China has reached a notable milestone in agricultural trade by exporting its first batch of white broiler eggs to Pakistan. This landmark shipment, which departed from Guangzhou Baiyun Airport, includes 172,800 “Guangming No 2” White Feathered Broiler eggs. It represents the first instance of China sending its domestically bred poultry to Pakistan.
Details of the Shipment
The broiler eggs were produced by Foshan Gaoming District Xinguang Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Co., Ltd., in collaboration with the Beijing Institute of Animal Science, part of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. This export signifies a major achievement for China’s poultry industry, marking its entry into the international market for broiler breeders.
Liu Dawei, Deputy General Manager of Xinguang and project leader for the White Feather Broiler initiative, expressed enthusiasm about the development. “Exporting these white-feathered broiler eggs to Pakistan is a significant milestone. We are excited to expand our market and bring our high-quality poultry breeds to the global stage,” Liu said.
Advantages of Guangming No 2 Broiler Eggs
The “Guangming No 2” White Feathered Broiler eggs are known for their rapid growth and high efficiency. At 42 days, these broilers typically weigh over 3 kg, with a feed-to-weight ratio of 1.32-1.5:1. The shipment is expected to produce over 50,000 parent broilers after 21 days of incubation, leading to the potential production of more than 7 million commercial broilers, equivalent to approximately 21,000 tonnes of chicken.
China’s Progress in Poultry Breeding
Historically, the market for white-feathered broiler breeders has been dominated by developed countries in Europe and the US. China’s dependence on these foreign breeders was significant until recent years. By the end of 2021, China had developed and approved its own varieties, including “Guangming No 2,” for independent cultivation, reducing its reliance on international sources.
Impact on Pakistan’s Poultry Industry
Pakistan currently imports all of its grandparent stock, which is essential for producing parent stock used in broiler production. With only a few companies handling these imports, the availability of domestically produced broiler eggs from China could greatly benefit Pakistan’s poultry sector by enhancing local production capabilities.
Conclusion
This landmark export underscores China’s progress in the poultry industry and offers promising opportunities for Pakistan’s agricultural sector. As the two countries continue to develop their trade relations, this development marks a positive step toward improving poultry production and global trade dynamics.
