BJP Calls Rahul Gandhi ‘Chhota Popat’ Over Mockery of PM Modi’s ‘Ek Hai Toh Safe Hai’ Slogan

The BJP on Monday took a dig at Rahul Gandhi, calling him a “chhota popat” following his criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan, “Ek hai toh safe hai” (We are safe if we are together). BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra claimed that the term was first used by Balasaheb Thackeray, founder of Shiv Sena, to describe Rahul Gandhi.

BJP’s Strong Remarks on Congress

During a press conference, Sambit Patra accused the Congress party of looting India’s ‘tijori’ (treasury) for decades through various scams. He said, “Chhota popat ne kiya Congress chopat” and added that the Gandhi family has repeatedly exploited the nation’s wealth.

Patra mocked Gandhi further, saying, “Murgi har roz ande deti hai, aur Rahul Gandhi harr election se pehle memes dete hai” (The hen lays eggs daily, and Rahul Gandhi provides memes before every election).

Rahul Gandhi Targets BJP

Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi accused PM Modi of prioritizing the interests of business tycoon Gautam Adani over the welfare of Maharashtra citizens. At a press briefing in Mumbai, Gandhi presented two posters from a safe.

  • Poster 1: Featured PM Modi alongside Adani with the tagline “Ek hai toh safe hai”.
  • Poster 2: Highlighted the Dharavi redevelopment plan by Adani Group, which has been mired in controversy.

Gandhi claimed that the safe represented Mumbai’s wealth, which he alleged is being handed over to Adani with the support of the BJP-led government.

BJP’s Jalebi Counter

The BJP also revived the jalebi incident from the Haryana Assembly elections, where Congress leaders prematurely celebrated with jalebis after early trends showed them leading. However, the BJP eventually formed the government for a third consecutive term, with party members later sending a kilogram of jalebis to Rahul Gandhi’s residence as a satirical gesture.

Patra predicted a similar outcome for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections, stating that the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance will retain power.

Sambit Patra’s Closing Remarks

Patra concluded by saying, “The safe will open on November 23, and Congress will find nothing inside. Memes will flood social media as the BJP secures victory.”
